Meet Our Supervising Physician: Dr. Cox
Doug Cox M.D. is a graduate of University of Oklahoma College of Medicine. After completing a Family Medicine residency at the University of Tulsa Medical College, Dr. Cox has practiced in Grove, OK. Dr. Cox has practiced both Family Medicine and Emergency Medicine over the last 35 years. He has received many awards including Oklahoma Family Physician of the Year Award (X2), and the Hero of Emergency Medicine Award from the American College of Emergency Physicians. The director of the Grove Emergency Medical Services, Dr. Cox also completed 12 years in the Oklahoma House of Representatives, where he was Chairman of the Appropriations and Budget Subcommittee for Health Care.
He and his wife have 3 grown children and 6 grandchildren. He enjoys hobbies of playing on Grand Lake and flying his Cessna 172 airplane.
Meet Our CNP: Joseph Gelinas
Joseph Gelinas, ARPN-CNP, of Grand Lake Healthcare in Grove, Oklahoma, became a Paramedic in 1995. He provided Emergency transportation care on both the ground and in the air. In 2004 he became a Registered Nurse, a graduate of NEO A&M college, shortly thereafter he acquired his Bachelor's degree in Nursing from Oklahoma Wesleyan University.
He began managing the ER, ICU, and Telemetry for nearly 4 years. It was at a time Mr. Gelinas believed God was calling him to the bedside, so he enrolled in The University of Oklahoma Nurse Practitioner program, where he received his Master's degree in science. He became a certified Nurse Practitioner in Family Care in 2010. He has continued to provide primary care for the people in the community which he loves so much.
Married to Cherlyn Gelinas for 16 years with four grown children and an adopted 7-year-old son, life is never boring. Cherlyn is currently attending the University of Tulsa as a third-year law student.
